Q: What is the practice schedule for NOVA FC?

A: NOVA FC will practice twice per week for 90 to 120 minutes and potentially one day a week of foot-skills training.  Playing on NOVA FC '93 will take priority over other sports.  Therefore, it is expected that players will attend all practices unless excused in advance.  Absent due to compelling circumstances, may be allowed.

Q: What commitment is expected from each player?

A: Players must commit to play in both the Fall and Spring seasons.  Attendance at all games is expected. Absent due to illness, injury, out of town travel, or other compelling reason, may be excused. 

Q: What is the practice commitment during the summer?

A: Super Y League for Summer 2007

Q: What is the winter commitment?

A: Indoor training and futsal / indoor soccer for Winter 2007-2008

Q: What are the projected player costs for playing on NOVA FC '93?

A: 

Q: What about tournaments?

A: NOVA FC has participated in top-ranking tournaments such as Jefferson cup, Dallas cup, CASL shootout, Fayetteville Friendlies, Potomac Memorial, Bethesda Thanksgiving, and OBGC. Future plans include Disney Showcase in 2007 and maybe Dallas Cup in 2008.

Q: Who should attend tryouts?

A: NOVA FC '93 is seeking passionate and dedicated soccer players to advance with the team to the next level.

Q: What are the tryouts criteria for selection?

A: Players will be evaluated primarily on soccer skills, athleticism, and coachability.  The tryouts will feature a series of drills designed to determine speed, agility, ball control, dribbling, shooting, and soccer knowledge.

Q: Will there be separate evaluations of goalkeepers?

A: Yes, there will be separate evaluations.

Q: When and how will players be notified about the outcome of their tryout?

A: A member of the coaching staff will contact each family by telephone within a few days of the last tryout.

Q: What should each player bring to tryouts?

A: Appropriate clothes for soccer, shin guards, cleats, ball, water bottle.

Q: Do the parents need to stay at the field during tryouts?

A: One parent for each player should stay. A team representative will be available to answer any questions parents may have.

 


Boys who play for Reston NOVA FC '93 are from many Virginia and Maryland communities: Reston, Herndon, Arlington, Centreville, Springfield, Leesburg, South Riding, Vienna, Bethesda, and Potomac.  Reston NOVA FC '93 plays in the NCSL (National Capital Soccer League) and has a reputation as a strong competitor at the national level.
